This is like the equivalent of the bleep test in the UK. No one wanted to do it or be the first to miss the 'bleep' in their group. I remember one year a bunch of students got fed and point blank refused to do it. They got detention but I wish I'd joined them. I felt pressure but I know some were just outright embarrassed by the whole test. No one should be made to feel that way.

The FitnessGram™ Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The 20 meter pacer test will begin in 30 seconds. Line up at the start. The running speed starts slowly, but gets faster each minute after you hear this signal. Ding A single lap should be completed each time you hear this sound. Ding Remember to run in a straight line, and run as long as possible. The second time you fail to complete a lap before the sound, your test is over. The test will begin on the word start. On your mark, get ready, ding

I would literally not give a shit about my time because it was hot af in the summer cold af in the winter and both my ankles would swell every time. One time my teacher pulled me aside to tell me “I slow everyone down and I need to be better” told her about the swelling to my ankles and she said “didn’t care what the excuse was, stop slowing down her class” never will run to this day.

"Fitness isn't ONE SIZE FITS ALL" LOUDER for the people at the back!!! Setting these "standards" is so damaging, everyone should be rewarded for achieving fitness that fits their body's limits! Having CFS, PE was literal hell and even my teacher was like "Technically you should have a failing grade due to not reaching the "required" fitness levels/scores" but because I showed up EVERY lesson and did whatever I could, which was limited due to my health, I was "graciously" given a passing grade.....

We have a growing obesity epidemic in our country and our entire school system has put health and physical education on the back burner. I understand that this seems like good entertainment, but believe me when I say this, EXERCISE IS IMPORTANT. Encourage youth to exercise and to have fun progressing and achieving to be better than last time.

No one here belives it is bad to be so weak at that age? It is a shame to let you body be so out of shape, no matter what you will say, this is not the way a man should perform. Pull ups are not humiliating, you are to weak, it is not other people problem, you need to push yourself to be better. And know what? It is a choice, it is a choice to be better and to try, to care about your body, and if you fear a 5th grade fitness test, man, you have a problem! As much I am for supporting mental health and understanding how fragile a young kids self esteem is…. It really prepares us for the real world, you’re not always gonna be the best at something, competition has brought about a lot of good, striving to become better and better. Having a-holes and cocky brats allows you to you see the difference in everybody, get along with people you don’t like etc…

Um, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Zach and Ned did chin-ups, while Keith did actual pull-ups. The main difference is chin-ups your palms are facing you when you do them while pull-ups are your palms facing away from you, and chin-ups are significantly easier but still kudos to them for exercising and doing work.

At 17 you're at your fittest, after that everything just goes downwards in sports. In your early 30ies you're already old. - It would have been impossible for the Try Guys to do the standard for the 17-year-olds; so aiming for the 5th graders' standard was actually adequate ...

@nemil I'm not talking about athletes. I'm talking about AVERAGE people that do sports solely as a hobby. And it's not a theory, this has been proven. Besides, even as an athlete you're considered old when you're over 30 ... your endurance is weaker, your reflexes are slower, everything just takes so much more effort ... the one bonus that older sportsmen have over the young, are the amounts of training they had ...
